Tax Internship – Spring 2027 (January – April)

Purdy Powers & Company is a locally owned public accounting firm in downtown Portland, Maine. We are seeking motivated accounting students interested in gaining hands-on experience, applying classroom learning to real client work, and learning alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.

 

Position Details 

  • Internship Period: January–April 2027

  • Compensation: $30.00 per hour

  • Positions Available: 2

  • Location: 130 Middle Street, Portland, Maine

  • Schedule: Flexible; minimum of 24 hours/week

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with tax return preparation and supporting documentation

  • Organize and review client financial information

  • Perform account reconciliations and other accounting-related tasks

  • Use professional accounting and tax software

  • Assist with research, documentation, and special projects

 

Qualifications & Skills

We are looking for students who:

  • Are pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field

  • Have completed or are working toward introductory accounting coursework

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Communicate professionally and work well as part of a team

  • Are dependable, curious, and willing to learn

  • Have basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications

Previous accounting or professional office experience is not required.
