Audit Accountant

We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Senior Audit Accountant to join our Audit & Assurance team. This full-time role offers the opportunity to take an active role in planning, performing, and completing audit and other assurance engagements while working directly with clients and supporting the development of junior team members. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in public accounting, sound technical accounting and auditing skills, and the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines while delivering accurate, timely, and professional client service.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Perform assigned audit, review, compilation, and other assurance procedures in accordance with applicable professional and Firm standards

  • Assist with engagement activities, including client requests, fieldwork, documentation, and established timelines

  • Assist with preparing financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting standards

  • Prepare complete, accurate, and well-organized workpapers and other engagement documentation for review

  • Identify accounting, auditing, internal control, and financial reporting matters that may require additional consideration and communicate them to engagement leadership

  • Develop an understanding of clients’ businesses, industries, operations, and accounting systems to support risk assessment and engagement procedures

  • Communicate with clients regarding information requests, routine questions, assigned engagement matters, and deadlines, with support from engagement leadership as appropriate

  • Assist with researching accounting and auditing matters and applying relevant professional guidance, including FASB, GASB, and AICPA standards, as applicable

  • Respond to review comments and feedback and incorporate appropriate revisions into engagement work

  • Organize and prioritize assigned work across multiple engagements while meeting established deadlines

  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable accounting and auditing standards, professional requirements, and Firm policies and procedures, and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or expected completion prior to start date

  • Prior public accounting, audit internship, or related accounting experience preferred, but not required

  • CPA eligibility or intent to pursue CPA licensure preferred

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable auditing and assurance standards

  • Coursework or experience involving financial statements, accounting documentation, or audit and assurance concepts preferred

  • Ability to apply sound judgment, recognize when additional guidance is needed, and perform work accurately

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and coworkers

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines

  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, seek guidance when appropriate, and incorporate feedback into work

  • Commitment to responsive, high-quality client service and the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn accounting and audit software

  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary of $60,000–$85,000, based on experience and qualifications
