Senior Audit Manager / Principal

We are seeking an experienced Senior Audit Manager / Principal to join our Audit & Assurance team. This full-time role is responsible for leading audit engagements from planning through issuance, managing multiple engagements and deadlines, and delivering accurate, timely, and professional client service. The Senior Audit Manager / Principal also plays a key leadership role by supervising, coaching, and developing audit staff while applying strong technical accounting and auditing knowledge and sound professional judgment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead audit engagements from planning through issuance, including risk assessment, audit strategy development, and execution oversight
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during fieldwork and engagement execution and maintain strong working relationships through consistent communication and responsiveness
Ensure audit engagements are completed in accordance with professional standards, Firm methodology, established timelines, and budgets
Identify engagement risks and issues early, develop proposed resolutions, and escalate matters requiring consultation to Partners, as appropriate
·Review audit workpapers, financial statements, and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, technical compliance, and support for conclusions reached
Apply advanced technical accounting and auditing knowledge to routine and moderately complex issues
Supervise, coach, and mentor audit seniors and staff, delegating work effectively based on skill level and engagement needs
Provide timely, constructive feedback and contribute to performance evaluations and the long-term development of team members
Manage engagement budgets, staffing, and timelines across multiple concurrent audits and adjust plans as needed to meet deadlines
Coordinate with other engagement teams and Firm resources as needed to support engagement quality and efficiency
Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, accountability, and collaboration in all client and internal interactions
Support Firm initiatives related to audit quality, operational efficiency, and staff development
Identify opportunities to provide forward-looking, value-added service and thoughtful solutions to clients
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
15+ years of progressive public accounting audit experience preferred
Active CPA license required
Experience in nonprofit, commercial, employee benefit plan, or governmental auditing, with a willingness to work across multiple industries as needed
In-depth knowledge of one or more of the following audit frameworks: FASB, GASB, ERISA, Yellow Book, or Single Audit
Demonstrated experience managing multiple audit engagements simultaneously, including engagement budgets, staffing, and deadlines
Strong communication and people-leadership skills with proven experience supervising, training, mentoring, and developing audit staff and seniors
Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, including willingness to travel to client sites as needed
